92 points Wine Spectator: "Combines a tight, firm framework and a complex mix of dark berry, anise, gravel, road tar and savory herb notes, finishing with a long, clean, layered aftertaste. Should reward short-term cellaring. (6/3/15)"
92 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2013 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley comes across as a bit restrained, with lovely energy to balance the expressive Russian River fruit. Dark cherry, plum, spice, cedar and cinnamon flesh out on a perfumed, sensual finish with attractive rose petal and lavender overtones. (May 2015)"
92 points and 'Very highly recommended,' California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby; attractive, cherry and raspberry fruit aroma with light hints of Asian spices, rose petal, and mocha; medium-full body; textured, earthy, layered, red fruit flavors with a touch of cola and nicely integrated oak; medium to medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Approachable now as it shows good depth and hints of complexity that will continue to develop with some bottle aging. 14.5% alcohol; released March 2015. (May 2015)"
Producer notes: "The 2013 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of vineyards that surround our Sebastopol home, which lie in cool areas throughout the Russian River Valley. Aromatics: This layered, complex, beauty of a wine shows rich aromas of wild anise and wisps of bergamot, mingled with the red and dark fresh fruit components of bing cherries, black raspberry, and a hint of rose petal. On the palate: This Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is pure, balanced, lush and focused. On the front are delicate notes of cherries and rose hips that blossom to cola, pomegranate and sun drenched raspberries, culminating with chocolate dipped oranges that coats the palate and lingers long after."
