93-95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru comes from 90-year old vines. It was much more backaward than the Clos des Aigrots, scents of dark cherries, cranberry and Tayberry emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with more substance than the Clos des Aigrots, gentle grip, very harmonious with perfectly judged acidity and an almost pixelated finish. Outstanding. Drink: 2025-2045. (Dec 2021)"

93-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "From 99 year old vines! Glowing purple. Super sensual sweet raspberry, yet with restraint, and with structure, and just enough of both tannin and acidity. Perfect long harmonious finish. (Oct 2021)"

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Lafarge family’s 2020 Beaune 'Grèves' is even better, as these old vines, all planted in 1921, have weathered the storm of hydric stress without seemingly even noticing there was any deprivation! The wine is beautifully red fruity aromatically this year, delivering scents of cherries, strawberries, chalky minerality, a touch of nutskin, cocoa powder, gamebird and a delicate framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and superbly balanced, with a sappy core of red fruit, marvelous mineral undertow, impeccable balance, fine-grained tannins and a very, very long, seamless and vibrant finish. 2033-2085. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

94 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "A wine of extraordinary concentration, displaying a nose that melds ripe black and red fruit, with spicy, savoury and mineral tones plus hints of smoke. The texture is infinitely supple and rich, yet in no way heavy and the finish lingers seductively on the palate – a moreish wine if ever there was one. Produced from the domaine's oldest vines - 99 years of age in 2020. Drinking Window: 2025-2060. (11/10/21)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "The nose on this wine is fantastic. Spiced black plums and wild cherries are heady in intensity. The texture is rich and almost thick with lush fruit. Nice acidic tang and lightly grippy tannins focus the palate that shows no overt evidence of new oak use. 2024-35. (2022)"

92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "TThe Lafarge's 99-year-old vines have turned in a terrific effort with the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves. Mingling aromas of dark berries and cherries with hints of rose petals, raw cocoa and forest floor, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with ripe, powdery tannins and lively acids. It's a touch more enveloping and expansive in style than the more tensile Clos des Aigrots, a fine distinction that I suspect will become more apparent with bottle age. (1/20/22)"
