92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Made from 70 year old vines, with 55-60% whole bunch vinification. A bright medium deep purple. More in red berry fruit, raspberry, without the iron rich notes of neighbouring Aux Echanges. Lifted and quite classy. This is really quite substantial from such a lesser known 1er cru. Vines from early 1950s could help, of course. Gilbert suggests that this could be the quintessence of Chambolle. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: December 2023."

92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes is once again a highlight of the range, exhibiting inviting aromas of cherries and raspberries mingled with rose petals and sweet spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping palate that's seamless and suave, with a fresh core of fruit, super-refined tannins and a mineral finish. (1/18/24)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Combottes 1er Cru comes from vines up to 70 years old. It has a very expressive bouquet with pure black cherry, tayberry fruit, crushed stone, and light forest floor scents. The medium-bodied palate has good concentration with a mixture of red and black fruit. The new oak is a little dominant towards the finish - it's one cuvée where I feel that less would have revealed the elegance that is here. Let's see how this ages and absorbs the oak. Drink: 2027-2045. (Jan 2024)"

90-92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A discreet helping of oak sets off ripe, fresh and airy aromas that include the essence of red cherry along with a plethora of floral elements. The energetic and even more finely textured flavors possess a gorgeous mouthfeel while exhibiting a bracing minerality on the silky and youthfully austere finale. This is a classic Combottes though one that could use better depth. Drink: 2030+. (Jan 2024)"
