93 points David Schildknecht (Vinous): "The nose mingles purple plum, orange zest and bittersweet, gentian-like floral perfume with the penetrating intensity of a distillate. Oily and glyceral-rich on the palate yet displaying bright citricity and piquant cut, this finishes with sappy cling as well as transparency to a shimmering interchange of citric, floral and crystalline, mouthwateringly saline mineral notes. I often associate the dominantly chalky, stony Kirchspiel with an even more austere wine than that of nearby sites, but in the present collection it is among the two Wittmann Grosse Gewächse that come closest to being winsome. Drink: 2016-2025. (May 2016)"

92.7 points CellarTracker.com community score.

91+ points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2014 Riesling GG Kirchspiel offers a dense and smoky bouquet with almond cookie, lemon and lemon tea flavors. With more aeration, the nose becomes intensely chalky and develops fruit aromas of pineapples on the very well-focused and elegant nose. Full-bodied, very fresh, with lots of lemon flavors and grip, this is a finesse-full and expressive Riesling. It has a vibrant and stringent, tension-filled and salty finish. This wine is promising. (AP #17/15) Drink: 2018-2026. (8/30/16)"
