95 points Wine & Spirits: "[$23 list] Hannes Schuster is keeping up the reputation his mother developed for blaufränkisch in Burgenland with this wine, a complex, elegant take on the variety from the family's certified-organic vineyards. Fermented with ambient yeasts in open-top vats and aged in used 500-liter Stockinger barrels, it's deep, dark, black and blau in flavor, saturated but not sweet. A sense of wet stone adds a deep mineral savor and keeps the fruit firm and fresh for days after opening. (4/1/22)"

Importer notes: "2019 was a fantastic vintage. The result is a bright, blue-fruited Blaufrankisch that delivers a balance of ripeness and power, while managing to remain fresh and lively. Organic and biological vineyard practices. Fermented spontaneously with native yeast in open-top vats. No new wood. Aging occurs in 500 Liter Stockinger barrels and is bottled in summer. A wine that is all about fruit and earth, with dark, textural tannins that will age well for at least another five or six years in the cellar or can be drunk now."
