There’s captivating polish to the ribbon-like tannins and the acidity directs beautiful dried violets and lavender towards a structured, balanced finish that’s bursting with life and intensity. The old vines have roots pushing deep into the limestone soil, a struggle which gives the resulting grapes increased complexity, minerality and depth. Hannes Schuster has dedicated himself to pure terroir expressions of both Blaufrankisch and St. Laurent, always one of our favorites. The winery is certified biodynamic and the winemaking is traditional with large, old used casks and minimal interference and sulphur use. We only get a small amount of these 'reserve' bottlings of his St. Laurent and it is wonderful to see the resulting beauty with some extra time in the bottle."
