94-97 points Fine Wine Review: "The Gevrey-Clos St-Jacques has ripe red currant fruit and gaminess, very typical of the vineyard. In the mouth, the wine is tightly wound, steely, mineral, and nervy with long, deep flavors, but not necessarily powerful -- instead it is racy. Unlike some vintages, there is no sensation of new wood in this wine. (Issue #119; 2008)"

95 points Clive Coates, MW (Decanter): "Compared with their Cazetiers this is richer, riper, more profound and more succulent. Very impressive on the nose. Quite splendid on the palate. Full and the most backward of all these Clos Saint-Jacques. Great intensity and complexity. Lots of energy and real finesse. Very fine. Drink starting 2016. (2/16/18)"

95 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "Packed with sweet fruit, this silky red exudes cherry, strawberry, licorice, sandalwood and mineral aromas and flavors. Despite its intensity, this remains lithe and refined, with excellent harmony and resonance on the long finish. Best from 2012 through 2024. 50 cases imported. (4/30/10)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "There is certainly nothing to fault with the consistently beautiful bottling chez Rousseau, but this is another of those superb wines scattered around the Côte d’Or where I just dream of tasting a vintage with less than one hundred percent new oak. It is not that the Clos St. Jacques here ever has any problem carrying and absorbing its new wood, I just keep wondering how its expression of terroir might differ if the wine were raised in less new wood, or all one year-old barrels like many of the other Rousseau wines. In any event, the 2006 is all in new wood and it is lovely, as it offers up a complex mélange of strawberries, cherries, blood orange, tangy minerality, grilled meats, coffee and spicy oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, complex and quite refined, with a lovely core of fruit, a closed personality, and a very long, seamless and tangy finish that closes with moderate tannins and great grip. 2016-2050. (Nov/Dec 2007)"

93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 2.2 ha parcel). Here too there is a gentle touch of wood spice framing the more elegant and ultra refined high-toned red pinot fruit nose that also evidences ample minerality that continues onto the rich, sweet and sappy middle weight flavors that are almost delicate yet focused, pure and sneaky long as the flavor impact is really impressive. A strikingly intense wine of finesse and understatement in 2006. Drink: 2016+. (Jan 2009)"

93 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide to the Wines of France: "Nice red-berry aromas and an aristocratic mouthfeel that is immediately appealing for its unparalleled texture, rich and harmonious flavor, in short everything we expect from this superb cru but with less panache than in 2006. Drink: 2011 up to 2026. (
