95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Quite introverted, Butteaux unfurls its saline, dense, chiseled flesh. Its penetrating length reinforces its tonic personality, whose fine bitters blossom into a luminous but still tight finish. It will go a long way, but needs time. (2023)"

95 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 1.49 ha holding of 40+ year old vines). A more reserved nose grudgingly reveals its aromas of mineral reduction, essence of green apple, lemon-lime and a variety of Chablis elements that include iodine, tidal pool and quinine along with moderate wood. There is excellent volume to the intense, detailed and tautly muscular flavors that display superb length on the balanced, youthfully austere and dry finale. This powerful and compact effort is flat out terrific and while it can't match the refinement of the Montée de Tonnerre, it is just as complete. If you can find it, buy it. Drink: 2032+. (Oct 2022)"

95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Pale colour I instantly fall in love with this nose. An explosion of fresh white peaches on the nose, really gorgeous, with a massive concentration without heat or being clumsy. What else to say? (Jun 2022)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Chablis “Butteaux” from Domaine Raveneau is a notable step up this year from the very good lineup of premier crus that preceded it in the tasting, as this has real grand cru depth and length. The aromatic constellation is outstanding, offering up a blend of pear, apple, beeswax, a beautifully deep, complex base of chalky soil tones, dried flowers and a topnote of lemon zest. On the palate the wine is bright, crisp and full-bodied, with a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding mineral drive and grip, snappy acids, laser-like focus and a very long, soil-driven and complex finish. Great juice. 2030-2080. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux is lovely, unfurling in the glass with aromas of pear, orange oil, lemon, freshly baked bread, beeswax and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, taut and structured, it's a serious, concentrated wine with a lively spine of acidity and a long, mineral finish. Drink: 2027-2055. (Jul 2022)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This comes from two parcels situated high on the slopes near the border of Forêt. It's an airy, elegant wine with a lithe core and well-placed acidity. Smelling of white pepper, oyster shell and soft-stemmed herbs, the fruit is rather silent now - likely reflecting its chilly position in the vineyards. 2024-30. (2022)"
