93 points and 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(it's always fascinating to see the contrast between these three wines as both Butteaux and Forêts are climats within Montmains; from 40+ year old vines). The expressive nose offers up notes of petrol, flowers, pear, citrus and wet stone, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is excellent volume to the impressively rich and powerful medium weight plus flavors that brim with dry extract on the focused, mouth coating and wonderfully persistent finish. 2012 is a robust vintage for this excellent wine that should repay up to a decade of bottle age. Drink: 2020+. (Oct 2014)"
93 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Pale color. Reticent aromas of citrus peel, white stone fruits and oyster shell, plus a suggestion of oak spice (the Raveneaus used "more recent" oak barrels for this wine and their Montee de Tonnerre in 2012, according to Bernard). Sappy and alive in the mouth, with terrific mineral lift to the flavors of white peach, apple and dusty stone. Finishes bright and long, with subtle lime and mineral nuances. This was splendid from the barrel a year ago and it's every bit as strong following the recent bottling. (Jul 2014)"
