93 points Wine & Spirits: "[$67 list] Focused on pinot noir (65 percent, particularly fruit from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ), this blend includes up to 30 percent reserve wines aged in oak barrels. The red fruit comes through in the wine’s scent of currants and in its gentle grip, its savor combining a sense of transparent red-grape skins and the refreshing acidity of fruit grown in limestone. (Dec 2020)"
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$67 list] This producer's nonvintage cuvée is just right. It is balanced, the ripe apple and pear flavors are laced with acidity and citrus are, giving minerality as well as structure from the 65% Pinot Noir in the blend. This Champagne is perfectly ready to drink. (Dec 2020)"
92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Disgorged in June 2020 with eight grams per liter dosage, the latest release of Philipponnat's NV Brut Royale Réserve is based on the 2016 vintage, with 27% reserve wines. Offering up aromas of peach, pear and plum mingled with apple blossom and sweet pastry, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and expressive, with a pillowy mousse and a generous core of fruit, underpinned by bright acids. Drink: 2021-2035. (Mar 2021)"
92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The current release of Philipponnat “Royal Réserve” non-vintage Brut is from the base year of 2015 and the wine was disgorged in June of 2019 and finished with a dosage of eight grams per liter. As is customary, the cépages here is sixty-five percent pinot noir, thirty percent chardonnay and five percent pinot meunier, with around twenty-five percent of the blend made up of reserve wines from the solera system the maison has started in the last decade. The wine offers up a refined bouquet of white peach, apple, fresh-baked bread, chalky soil tones, a touch of hazelnut and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a fine core, elegant mousse, bright acids and fine length and grip on the very well-balanced finish. As I have noted for the last few years, amongst the Grandes Marques these days, Philipponnat’s non-vintage Brut is now consistently one of the finest made! 2020-2040. (May/Jun 2020)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "[$67 list] An apple-accented Champagne, with enticing notes of ripe and juicy Jonagold apple and honeysuckle, weaving grilled nut, ground ginger and lemon glaze flavors on the finely detailed bead. Bright and mouthwatering finish. Disgorged November 2017. Drink now through 2022. 3,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported. (11/30/19)"
