94 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(2013 base vintage; disgorged September 2017; 20% chardonnay, 75% pinot noir, 5% meunier; majority premier and grand crus; 5–7% red wine from Clos des Goisses in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ; aged 3 years on lees; 26% solera of reserves aged in barrels; partial malolactic fermentation; aged at least 3 years on lees; 9g/L dosage). Philipponnat’s Rosé aspiration is freshness, and it’s now entrusted to dark bottles for the first time, ‘because it’s impossible to educate retailers on lightstruck degradation in clear bottles!’ explains international marketing and sales director Antoine de Boysson. The bright purity and gentle structure of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ pinot is well suited to rosé (as Billecart has also exemplified), and Philipponnat has always excelled with this blend. You would have to go all the way back to 2008 to find a release of such refined elegance as the 2013 base. A tiny dose of Clos des Goisses red wine is all it takes to stain it a beautiful medium salmon hue. The presence of pinot noir brings great depth of savoury spice and tomato over a core of red cherry and wild strawberry fruit. Chalk mineral structure is very fine and pronounced, in wonderful synergy with lively, focused acidity and fine-grained, well-toned tannins. A rosé of true greatness, presenting refined elegance with lingering persistence. (2020-2021)"

94 points James Suckling: "A freshness and drive to this with sliced strawberry and lime with some peach blossom undertones. Full-bodied with lovely creamy texture and a bright finish. Hints of cotton candy. Very polished and focused. From the 2019 vintage. 69% pinot noir, 29% chardonnay and 2% meunier. 27% reserve wine aged in barrel. Disgorged in January 2023. 9g/l dosage. Drink now. (8/7/23)"

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Pinot noir accounts for 75 percent of this blend, the lovely coppery color pointed up by red wine from pinot noir grown in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. The wine feels honest, settling from heady to brisk as the deep, plummy savor extends into a mineral finish. It lasts with the gentle delicacy of pinot noir. (Dec 2020)"

93 points Wine Spectator: "[$117/750ml list] A graceful Champagne, with a chalky underpinning and lacy texture supporting ripe strawberry and raspberry fruit, star anise, apple blossom and salted almond notes. Lightly juicy and fresh through to the lingering finish. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Disgorged March 2023. Drink now through 2028. (12/15/23)"

92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Philipponnat’s “Royale Réserve” Rosé non-vintage Extra Brut bottling this year is from the base year of 2019 and is made from a cépages of sixty-nine percent pinot noir, twenty-nine percent chardonnay and two percent pinot meunier, with only the first pressing or cuvée juice used in the blend. Eight percent of the blend is still pinot noir this year. Twenty-seven percent of the wine this year is from their solera of reserve wines that the house has set up for this bottling. It was aged on its fine lees for three years and disgorged in March of 2023, with its dosage this year being nine grams per liter. The wine is a beautiful salmon color and delivers a refined and quite complex bouquet of strawberries, blood orange, rhubarb, chalky soil tones, pâtissière and a topnote of dried rose petals. On the palate the wine is crisp, focused and full-bodied, with a fine core and mineral drive, elegant mousse, a lovely girdle of acidity and excellent balance on the long, complex and vibrant finish. This is certainly already quite tasty, but it is still a young wine and a year or two in the cellar will allow the acids to back off a bit and the wine will blossom very nicely. Fine juice. 2023-2040. (Jul/Aug 2023)"

92 points Tom Hewson (TimAtkin.com): "Once again the 2017-based NVs from Philipponnat are shining. 71% Pinot Noir, 27% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Meunier. This includes 27% oak-aged reserves and 6.5% red wine addition from the Clos des Goisses. Real pedigree here, with beautiful delicacy to strawberry tart and plum jelly fruit, lifted up with the warmth of gingerbread and orange peel. A touch of liquorice, too – it's fullsome in flavour, but shining with the essential freshness that Philipponnat work hard to maintain. Confident, harmonious NV rosé. (Dec 2022)"

92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 73% Pinot Noir, 24% Chardonnay, and the rest Meunier, the NV Champagne Royale Reserve Brut Rosé is based on the 2018 vintage and has 9 grams per liter dosage. The nose is ripe and fleshy, with strawberry, cherry, and crushed roses. It is rounded and fluffy in its mousse, though it is dry, with raspberry, almond, and a silky texture on the finish. This is certainly a crowd pleaser to drink now or over the next ten years as an aperitif, on its own, or at the end of the night. Drink: 2022-2032. (11/7/22)"

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Darker in color than many rosés, this Champagne is also rich, with a tight texture that is balanced by zesty acidity and ripe red and citrus fruits. The wine is full-bodied, its concentration impressive. Drink now. Alcohol 12.5%. (Dec 2022)"
