95 ponts Wine Enthusiast: "This is a wine that thrives on tension between its structure, opulence, elegance and poise. It is certainly ripe and opulent, but it is so well balanced and layered with acidity, and flavors of almonds, orange peel and kiwi fruits. It will certainly age. (Nov 2006)"

94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "An elegant but austere wine that is almost as reticent as the '96 with pure citrus and floral aromas that continue onto the crisp and still very tight medium-bodied flavors that are beautifully precise and impressively delineated on the gorgeously long finish. This is a long way from being ready and I wouldn't touch a bottle for another 5 to 7 years. Drink: 2013+. (Oct 2007)"

94 points Wine & Spirits: "This young wine has a potent mousse and equally brisk acidity. Its flavors are bright white, from chalk to fresh cream; they take some time to meld with the vibrant structure, coming together with air, lithe and refined. Richness develops in scents of brioche, mouthwatering with a fat Belon oyster, built to age. (Dec 2006)"

93 ponts John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The nose is a lovely blend of pink grapefruit, green apple, a nice base of mineral salts, bread dough and stony soil tones. On the palate the wine is fullish, racy and solid to the core, with good, but not great dimension, and fine length and grip on the almost tensile finish. This should age very nicely and, while it will not likely end up cut in that opulent, grand cru white Burgundy style of DP vintages such as ’62, ’64, ’73 and ’90, it is likely to offer up outstanding complexity in breed in a racier and more soil-driven style reminiscent of the ’85 or ’88. A very good vintage of DP. (served from magnum) 2010-2035. (May/Jun 2007)"

93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A bit of a bruiser when this was released, 1998 has retained its breadth as it has aged and is still a champagne more about power than complexity. (2/25/23)"

92-93 points Richard Juhlin (The Champagne Club): "(50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir). You will have to take my first notes on this wine with a generous pinch of salt. I tasted it actually in connection with the launch of my latest book at the French Embassy in New York. Partly I had my focus elsewhere, but above all the glasses were far from perfect. This wine felt classical, fairly light, but with a long, impressive aftertaste. I will return to it when I have been able to taste it in my own glasses. Now I have done that and the impression is the same in the main. Very long, pure and classical, with mineral in the lead, but up to now rather weak. (Mar 2012)"
