90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Volnay Village comes from several parcels. It has a very pure bouquet of wild strawberry, cranberry and light crushed stone aromas, all delivered with fine delineation. The palate is very well balanced with chalky tannins that frame the open-knit, pure red cherry and strawberry fruit, leading to an elegant, persistent finish. Joyful. Drink: 2022-2036. (Jan 2020)"
90-92 points Fine Wine Review: "Lafarge’s Volnay has red fruit aromas and flavors, a smooth texture, and overall elegance. (2/10/20)"
91 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2018 Volnay villages from Domaine Michel Lafarge in another lovely middleweight in the making. The vibrant bouquet is pure and already nicely complex, offering up scents of raspberries, cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, lovely soil tones and a topnote of raw cocoa. On the palate the wine is bright, fullish and bouncy, with a good core, excellent soil signature and grip, quite subtle tannins and a very long, very pure and promising finish. Lovely AC in the making. 2025-2055. (Nov/Dec 2019)"
