'Sweet spot/Outstanding'/91-94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .23 ha parcel; 50% whole cluster). This is the first wine to display any noticeable wood and it's admirably subtle while easily allowing the notably floral suffused nose of red cherry, spice, lavender and spice to shine. In contrast to several of the prior Chambolle 1ers that are more robust, this is very Chambolle in character with its lacy mouthfeel and satin texture yet for all the refinement, the saline finish is explosively long. In sum, this is terrific and should both drink well young and age well too. In a word, excellent. Drink: 2026+. (Jan 2018)"

92 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Full deep purple, with a sumptuous bouquet, rich yet with verve and intensity. Suave and sensual up front, a little more intensity behind, the oak stops just short of drying out and there is a fine long finish, but the wood is at the limit. Tasted: September 2019."

92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru demonstrates a lot of new oak on the nose that slightly occludes the fruit behind it at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black and red fruit, quite saline with good substance towards the Morey-like finish. This is a gutsy and forthright Chambolle-Musigny, one that merits more cellaring than its peers. Superb. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. Drink: 2023-2045. (Oct 2019)"

92 points William Kelley (Decanter): "Already expressive, the Charmes bursts from the glass with notes of red cherry, plum, rich soil and hints of game, followed on the palate by a supple, expansive wine with good concentration, its tannins concealed by a generous core of fruit. Drink: 2025-2042. (Oct 2017)"
