94-98 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A slightly richer purple colour than the classic cuvée. The nose is a little bit more discreet, just a question of backwardness, because there is clearly more weight. A massive burst of deep raspberry fruit, less sucrosity and far more power at the finish. The tannins are enveloped by the fruit and the stems only show in the white pepper. Very persistent. Drink from 2028-2040. (Dec 2022)"

97 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This hails from vines planted in 1910 in the heart of the Clos. Its nose is wildly fragrant with peak-season cherries, heady spices, drying rose petals and smoky fireplace embers. The lightly bristly tannins offer good tension and the finish crackles with a pleasing dryness and mouthwatering freshness. This could use a decade at the very least. (2023)"

96 points/'Coup de Coeur,' La Revue du Vin de France: "Denser, deeper flesh, no rough edges, and velvety tannins in the Cuvée Vieilles Vignes (70 to 80 years old), which offers plenty of energy, acidity and complexity, right through to its crisp, sapid finish. (2024)"

93-95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "There's no cuvée Hommage this year, so the fruit of the domaine's oldest vines all went into the 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes, a full-bodied, supple and velvety wine evocative of dark berries, sweet spices, peonies, orange rind and vine smoke. Seamless and layered, with impressive concentration and length, this is built to age with grace. (1/31/23)"

92-95 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from vines that were planted in 1910). Here too the wood treatment is prominent though not dominant on the slightly more deeply pitched aromas of herbal tea, dark currant and more evident floral elements. There is notably better mid-palate concentration to the more powerful flavors that are also more structured and compact on the more markedly austere finale that offers excellent balance and length. This beauty should age effortlessly. Drink: 2036+. (Jan 2023)"

94 points/'Outstanding,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 2021 is a big step up in intensity and liveliness. Labet used 55% whole clusters, giving the wine an expressive side and silky character despite the fresh acidity in the 2021 vintage. This features Asian spices and impressive depth. It’s a delightful glass that will benefit from some years in the cellar. Drink from 2035. (8/12/22)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a lively bouquet with loamy scents filtering through the red berry fruit, fragrant with rose petal and peony emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firmer and more solid tannins than the Cuvée Classique, fleshier with a liquorice-tinged finish. This is a couple of steps ahead of the Cuvée Classique and should give 15 to 20 years' drinking pleasure. Drink: 2025-2040. (Jan 2023)"
