95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "The gentler of the two cuvées here, as one would expect, this is more open with refined tannins and exuberant yet gentler, redder fruit flavors. Strawberries and wild cherries mingle with crushed flint and underbrush. Juicy from the start to the supple finish, this still deserves time in the cellar. (2023)"
94 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "A superb effort in 2021 has produced stunning results at Château de la Tour. This ripe, aromatic wine features dark blackberry and plum fruit with earth, mineral, and smoke notes. The texture is firm and tannic, with admirable balance and finesse, given the vintage conditions. The Labet family decided to forgo their 'Hommage à Jean Morin' cuvée this year and put all of this old vine fruit into the 'Vieilles Vignes’ bottling to produce this delicious result. Drinking Window: 2025-2035. (Nov 2022)"
94 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Accessible and dense, the 2021 Clos de Vougeot is spicy and tender on the attack: concentration arrives mid-palate with a full-bodied, firm, minty finish in this wine made from 50% whole grapes and 50% new barrels. (2024)"
93 points/'Very Fine,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Cuvée Classique is light-footed for such a big wine. While it has good concentration, it does not match that of the previous robust vintages; this an old-school Clos Vougeot from the times before global warming. Whole-cluster inclusion is somewhat reduced in 2021 (to 45%) as the stems were not fully ripe everywhere. The floral notes are discreet, with white roses and other cool aromas. Drink from 2032. (8/12/22)"
91-93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "A strong effort, the 2021 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with notes of plums, rose petals, sweet spices and a deft touch of new oak. Full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with supple, powdery tannins and a seamless, enveloping profile, it concludes with a mouthwatering finish. (1/31/23)"
91-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "Moderately generous wood stops just short of fighting with the overtly floral-suffused earthy mix of red and blue pinot fruit. The sleek, delicious and vibrant middleweight flavors possess average density before terminating in a bitter pit fruit, moderately austere and sneaky long finish where the firm tannins are relatively fine-grained. Drink: 2033+. (Jan 2023)"
