92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Absolutely black centre to this with a massively concentrated bouquet, thus far hiding the detail. Inky depths. I would like to see this again after racking. The wine is not destabilised on the palate and the concentration is certainly exceptional, fresher at the finish. There is certainly an awful lot of wine here: buy it if you want a wine for 25 years time! (Nov 2021)"

92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Cropped at a derisory 15 hectoliters per hectare, the quality of Bouchard's 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot is some compensation for the lack of quantity. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries, rose petals, plums, raw cocoa and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, fragrant finish."

93 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com) (2022).

91-93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "Very ripe liqueur-like aromas of various black berries are nuanced by plenty of spice and floral elements. There is excellent underlying tension to the beautifully textured medium weight flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract and minerality, all wrapped in a bitter pit fruit finale that offers impressive persistence. This is definitely atypical but the intrinsic class of a fine Caillerets is still present. Drink: 2032+. (Apr 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(A 3.75 hectares, again in 4 plots. A sunny place so maturity comes very quickly here, so together with Enfant Jesus (Grèves) usually the first to be harvested – just 50 cm of soil before the limestone.) A deeper width of aroma – lovely and very different. Sweeter, always growing. This reminds of the open style of the Baby Jesus – but with a little more tannin and sweetness of flavour. More complex than the Chevret but I prefer the extra clarity of that wine today – and maybe this has the better finish – still, it’s excellent wine! (Dec 2021)"
