95 points James Suckling: "This a firm and pretty red with a solid tannin backbone to the medium body. Ripe fruit with some walnut, tobacco, and floral undertones. It’s long and flavorful. Balanced and firm. Classic style. Drink in 2025. (8/16/21)"

92-95 points/'Don't miss!/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "There is a suggestion of herbal tea on the exuberantly spicy aromas of red and dark raspberry along with a hint of violet. There is a wonderful texture to the classy and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract before culminating in a compact, serious and built-to-age finish. This too could use better depth but the underlying material, and this wine's consistently outstanding track record, bodes well for the future. One to strongly consider. Drink: 2031+. (Apr 2021)"

93 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "[$120 list] This is complex and aromatic, featuring cherry, plum, sandalwood, licorice and spice aromas and flavors. The supple texture is punctuated by vibrant acidity and refined tannins, showing fine balance and length. Drink now through 2030. 150 cases imported. (Jan/Feb 2022)"

93+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of wild berries and plums mingled with raw cocoa, peonies and subtle hints of spice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's seamless and complete, with a deep core of fruit and velvety structuring tannins. Drink: 2023-2059. (Sep 2021)"

93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "From a large parcel of 3.76ha in this leading Volnay Premier Cru, the fruit is slowly fermented in wooden vats and aged just over a year in cask, one-third new. The result is classic Volnay, with an expressive aroma of ripe red cherry fruit, along with notes of fresh violets and spice. The texture on the palate is silky and subtle, but not lacking in substance. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (Oct 2020)"

93 points Jasper Morris, MW: "A solid deep colour with some evolution, though the fruit is a little fresher on the nose. The palate offers something of everything with some toasted coffee mixed in with the vivid red fruit. This starts to come together very well on the palate, with dark raspberry, fresh liquorice and a balanced lively alpine strawberry note as well. Drink from 2028-2038. Tasted: September 2023."
