On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with even more depth and concentration than the 2008 that I tasted alongside it, combining imposing mid-palate volume with an ineffable sense of completeness in a rare mélange more often realized by the great still wines of the Côte d'Or than the wines of Champagne. The finish is long and chalky. This 2014 is more textural than the 2008, too, and I suspect that it will be even more thrilling—if perhaps not quite as incisive—at age ten, though it can also be drunk with pleasure today. It oozes minerality and salinity as well as vibrant lemon curd and white flower-like aromas and flavors.
