95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This is a structurally dynamic wine that still needs some time to come together, even if you can see that all of the necessary elements are in place. Indeed, there were no plans to bottle it until the spring. Moreover, there is a cool aspect to the flavors that remain a bit aloof now. Lean citrus, herb garden, yellow currants and pie crust contribute to the mix. There is remarkable depth here, and this will make a fabulous wine for enjoying well down the road. (2024)"

92-94 points/'Sweet Spot,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a purchase of fruit). Once again moderate wood is present on the cool if ripe and vaguely exotic aromas that feature notes of pear liqueur, green fruit, spice and seashore hints. There is almost painful intensity to the larger-scaled and overtly powerful flavors that terminate in a chalky, youthfully austere and compact finale that also flirts with rusticity. This is impressive and very much a classic Valmur. Drink: 2032+. (Aug 2023)"

91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Valmur receives the same as Bougros for elevage, so no oak thus far.. Glowing fresh pale yellow. An interesting zesty citrus rind nose, unexpected for me or this vineyard. A rich texture on the palate shows the grand cru, ripe citrus notes, if a little heavy in the flesh. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted: July 2023."

92 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "Creamy but with crisp acidity and a long, fresh finish. Lots to like. Still has plenty of warmth. Purchased grapes from the north-facing side of Valmur. Billaud-Simon produces its Valmur and Blanchot with unusually shaped vats designed to enhance the effect of maturation on fine lees. Drinking Window: 2025-2031. (10/18/23)"
