Bérêche is an exemplar of the rise and rise of the cool, northern-facing premier crus of the Montagne de Reims in the wake of an ever warmer climate. The greatness of the estate is proclaimed in Brut Réserve, a resounding tribute to the attentiveness of this lauded little house in the vineyards and the élevage. The rumbling depths of complexity inherent here bear testimony to the richness of the Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne and to wild fermentation and maturation in barrels. The warm 2020, 2019 and 2018 seasons unite in perfectly ripe, succulent stone fruits and figs, bathed in layers of deep, dark spice, fruit mince spice, tarte tarin and dried nectarine. The lively brightness of the finish is refreshing in such seasons, energised equally by the bright acidity and fine chalk minerality of the northern Montagne de Reims. (2024)"

92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "It had been six months since I last drank a botte of the current release of the Bérêche et Fils Brut Réserve non-vintage cuvée, which is from the base year of 2021 and was disgorged in December of 2023. It was finished this year with a dosage of six grams per liter. The wine is blossoming very nicely and offers up a lovely bouquet of apple, white peach, fresh-baked bread, chalky minerality, hazelnut and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and sports lovey mid-palate depth, with a good foundation of soil tones, elegant mousse, a fine spine of acidity and lovely balance on the long, youthfully complex and nicely precise finish. This is fine juice that is already very tasty, but which seems likely to provide even a bit more complexity if given some time tucked away in the cellar. 2025-2050. (Mar/Apr 2025)"

It’s an approach that worked out well though, as the finished wine is gorgeous. Pear, apricot, white flowers, spice, mint and almond all grace this nuanced, classy NV Champagne.
