92 points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 01 19. The 2018er Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Kabinett was harvested at 85° Oechsle in the Jon sector and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (54 g/l). It offers a rather ample nose made of lemon, white flowers, smoke and whipped cream. The wine has a rather soft feel on the palate but proves fresher in the finish as some notes of bitter lemon make for an attractive after-taste. 2024-2038. (Oct 2019)"

92 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "Still quite funky (reduction) on the nose, but juicy and elegant on the light, off-dry palate. Just a hint of caramel at the finish, but it remains bright and very clean, thanks to the lemony acidity. Drinkable now, but better from 2022. (9/23/21)"

91 points David Schildknecht (Vinous): "Despite the manifest challenges that 2018 presented to picking at low must weight, Vollenweider didn’t just render a highly successful Kabinett, he produced eight fuders’ worth of it, whereas most often there are five. Yeasty and matchstick notes on the nose slightly shroud scents of pear, apricot, lime, narcissus and peony. This will be a gorgeous bouquet once the reductive and fermentative notes are shed, as will inevitably happen. The palate is buoyant and creamy, yet insistently juicy as well as shot through with musky inner-mouth floral perfume. The textural creaminess and midpalate impression of relatively low acidity render this Kabinett’s animating and infectiously juicy finish – transparent to alkaline and stony nuances – a very pleasant surprise. Drink: 2022-2034. (Aug 2020)"

90 points Wine & Spirits: "Daniel Vollenweider started making wine in 1999, after purchasing a small parcel of old, ungrafted vines in the Wolfer Goldgrube. At the time, the vineyard was derelict; today, Vollenweider owns nearly 13 of its 18 steeply sloped acres. The 2018 nearly dances with energy, the sparkle of its mineral flavors and verve of its acidity enlivening the pear flavors. A graceful riesling with quiet power, it’s a great choice for a sushi dinner. (Feb 2020)"
