95 points Wine Spectator: "Displays complex aromas of blackberry and cherry, with a hint of licorice. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a delicious finish of wonderful yet subtle fruit. Well-integrated and beautiful. Everything is in the right place. Best after 2011. (4/30/09)"

95 points James Suckling: "The black-truffle, dark-berry and plum aromas here are very impressive indeed. Full body, tight and integrated tannins and a long and beautiful finish. Why wait? Drink now. (1/11/19)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is simply beautiful. Now that the wine is in bottle it is even better than when I tasted it from barrel. Firm but silky tannins frame a core of ripe dark fruit as this powerful yet elegant Brunello opens up in the glass. Smoke, cured meats, earthiness and graphite develop in the glass, adding further complexity. Sweet roses and spices linger on the long, refined finish. This is a big, structured Brunello, and like all of Abbruzzese’s wines, it needs at least a few years of bottle age before it offers its finest drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Jun 2009)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino hits the palate with serious depth, power and intensity. Smoke, grilled herbs, licorice, scorched earth, iron and wild cherries. This is an especially ferrous, powerful 2004. All things considered, the 2004 has aged well, although it won't last forever. Any remaining bottles are best enjoyed over the next handful of years. The tannins will outlast the fruit here, that much is clear. Drink: 2016-2025. (Oct 2016)"
