92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Capita is a blend of fruit from the premiers crus En Ergot, Corbeaux and Combottes, supplemented—if I understood Jean-Louis Trapet correctly—by a visual selection of small-berried clusters from Petite Chapelle and Clos Prieur which are not destemmed. The wine offers up attractive notes of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, espresso roast and cedary new wood, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample palate with bright acids and fine-grained tannins. (1/31/19)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 'Capita' is a cuvée that debuted in 2003. This year it comprises 100% whole cluster. The parcels are located in Les Combottes, Ergot (next to La Petite-Chapelle) and Corbeaux. The open, generous bouquet of brambly red fruit is earthier in style than other cuvées, and the tangible stem addition lends mulch-like/leafy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, a silky texture and a pixelated, harmonious raspberry preserve and black currant finish. This is simply another seductive and beautifully crafted Gevrey-Chambertin from Jean-Louis Trapet. Drink: 2022-2040. (Jan 2020)"

91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Fine mid purple with very ripe but absolutely delicious grapes evident from first sniff. Peachy dark raspberries. Very good weight to this with a clear fresh acidity at the back, all very much in balance despite the impact of the ripe fruit bouquet. Sweet dark fruit flows through to a long finish. (Nov 2019)"

91-94 points Fine Wine Review: "The Capita is a blend of premier cru vineyards that were not sufficient in size to warrant individual bottlings. The wine is made entirely with whole clusters. The wine has spicy red fruits, some minerality, and it is rich and powerful. (2/7/20)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "I was wondering if Jean-Louis would produce his blended Premier Cru bottling of Capita in 2018, as he purchased some very small fermentation tanks last year to allow for individual fermentations of his small parcels in the les Combottes and les Ergots (which are generally blended into the Capita, along with a bit of the production from his Petite Chapelle and Clos Prieur as well), so he now has the means to bottle all of his premier crus on their own if he so chooses. However, there is still a Capita bottling in 2018 and it is a beauty! The aromatic constellation offers up a very elegant blend of cherries, red plums, cocoa powder, a very complex base of soil tones, gentle spices, vanillin oak and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is very pure, full-bodied and already suave on the attack, with a lovely core of fruit, impressive transparency and grip, fine-grained tannins and a very long, complex and classy finish. A lovely bottle. 2028-2060. (Nov/Dec 2019)"
