98 points Kerin O'Keefe: "From a single vineyard situated 410m above sea level, Talenti’s 2019 Brunello Piero is a stunner, starting with its heady aromas of dog rose, iris, camphor, new leather and spiced blueberry. Full-bodied and loaded with finesse, the palate is polished and enveloping, delivering plum cake, ripe raspberry, cinnamon and minty notes alongside velvety tannins. While it’s already delicious, it will continue to evolve and offer years of immense pleasure. What a fabulous wine. Drink 2027–2039. (Nov 2023)"

98 points Bruno Beta (The World of Fine Wine): "Garnet to pink. Clean, elegant, youthful, and still a touch closed, with red cherries, peaches, minerals, and fresh and dried herbs on the nose. Poised, elegant, and weightless, with layered, red and black fruits, and a super-long, clean finish. Another beautifully crafted Sangiovese for medium- to long-term aging. 2030–40. (7/8/24)"

96-98 points Falstaff Guide: "Bright ruby red with a dark, flint core. Open-hearted and inviting on the nose, blackberry, plum, black cherry, exciting on the palate, strawberry candy, with grippy tannins, plus fine ferrous tones, keeps coming back in the mouth, still needs some time. (Mar 2024)"

96 points Michaela Morris (Decanter): "This selection hails from a two-hectare vineyard at 410 metres with rocky sandstone at the surface. Riccardo Talenti says that no matter what the conditions, it always gives the estate’s best fruit. Aged in tonneaux, Piero opens with intense coffee melding into wood spice inflections of clove and nutmeg. The mouth-filling palate progresses with a sweet/savoury character as gamey leather infuses dark fleshy red cherry. The tannins are grainy and substantial but ripe, and it's begging for a couple more years to come together. Drinking window 2026-2039 (Nov 2023)"

96 points Eric Guido (Vinous): "The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Piero is impossible to ignore, slowly blossoming with an enticing blend of spice-dusted blackberries, violet pastille and orange zest. This impresses further with its vividly ripe wild berry fruits and juicy acidity. Tactile mineral tones add contrast, and rosy inner florals form toward the close. The 2019 lingers impossibly long, taking on a spicy edge, as the palate is left reverberating with zesty tension, even as fine-grained tannins grip the senses. The Piero is already showing such flamboyancy and balance. It will be a thrilling Brunello to follow over the next two decades. Drink: 2026-2039. (Dec 2023)"

95+ points Luca Gardini: "Brunello dedicated to the memory of the founder, from the vineyard of the same name, located a few steps from the winery. Notes of red cherry on the nose, hints of black pepper in grains, touches of juniper and bergamot. The sip has citrusy sensations and a recall of red cherry, return of sweet spices and balsamic nuances. (Oct 2023)"

95 points Ian D'Agata (Terroir Sense): "Medium red-ruby. Youthfully medicinal aromas of red cherry, licorice and menthol lifted by a sweet spicy note. Very pure and rich, with an obvious sweetness of fruit that is reined in by a saline note. Finishes long, nicely focused and youthfully chewy, with building tannins. Strikes me as being much deeper and fruitier, and less oaky, than the classic 2019 Brunello from Talenti. Drinking window: 2030-2040. (Mar 2024)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "A vibrant red, whose vivid acidity propels rose, kirsch, raspberry and mineral aromas and flavors to a lingering conclusion. This is sleek and balanced, with a graceful feel and a long, fruit- and mineral-infused aftertaste. Best from 2026 through 2043. 500 cases made, 141 cases imported. (Jun 2024)"

94 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "Deep magenta/purple in color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Piero needs air on opening and is forward with tarry aromas that mask the wine underneath, revealing notes of black plum, violets, and licorice. Approachable and rounded, this full-bodied Brunello has a silky texture, plush tannins, and a long finish. Quite attractive, it will benefit from a decant if opening any time soon, but it should have a lot to offer in the coming 10-15 years Drink: 2024-2039. (2/28/24)"

93+ points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Talenti 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Piero is a wine of fruit weight and muscle mass. It has a heady, almost intoxicating, bouquet with mulled spice, stewed cherry and cured tobacco delivered in generous waves and rich volume. The wine's personality ultimately plays out as strong and simple, and these adjectives hit the nail on the head, in my opinion. It does offer smooth transitions, thanks to its velvety tannins, and is quite fleshed out on the finish. You do feel the 15% alcohol content. This is a 5,000-bottle release. Drink: 2025-2042. (12/15/23)"

93 points James Suckling: "Attractive aromas of crushed berries, cherries and bark follow through to a medium body, with lovely fruit and vivid acidity. Balanced and delicious already but can improve with age. Drink or hold. (9/13/23)"
