100 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate): "Deep garnet colored with a lingering hint of purple, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon comes sashaying out of the glass with provocative notions of warm cassis, blueberry compote, blackberry pie and violets with chocolate box, licorice and menthol nuances plus wafts of wilted roses, lavender and kirsch. Medium-bodied, the intensely perfumed black and blue fruit flavors glide gracefully across the palate, revealing a myriad of earth and spice accents, all framed beautifully with super ripe, fine-grained tannins and invigorating freshness, finishing very, very long. Wow. Drink: 2020-2050. (Aug 2018)"

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate continues to show how special this vintage was for the valley and is pure perfection to my palate. Ripe and sexy, with off-the-charts sexiness, it just about jumps from the glass with ample red, black, and blue fruits are interwoven with tobacco leaf, spice box, flowers, and incense-like aromas and flavors. Still youthful, it’s as seamless as they come and has a deep, layered, multi-dimensional texture, one stacked mid-palate, awesome tannins, and a great finish. It’s one of the most exuberant, sexy wines in the lineup, but it still shows classic Spottswoode purity, elegance, and balance. Don’t miss it! (5/12/21)"

99 points Robert Parker: "Retasting the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon was a treat as I believe it is the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon Spottswoode has ever produced. Wonderful aromas of black raspberries, blueberries, black currants and flowers jump from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged Cabernet. As I have stated before, if Chateau Margaux were in Napa Valley, it would be Spottswoode. The purity, balance and delicacy of this wine are impressive. Perhaps slightly less dense and powerful than the 2008, the 2007 is flawlessly put together with nothing out of place. It, too, should age effortlessly for 20-30+ years. (Dec 2010)"

98 points James Suckling: "What a nose on this wine. So intense and powerful, with cassis, currants, and licorice. Amazing stuff. Full and very soft, with wonderful soft yet focused tannins and juicy fruit. Pure and beautiful. Give this three years of bottle age before trying it. (2/15/11)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "Smooth, rich and understated, offering a subtle mix of ripe, full-bodied currant, blackberry and wild berry flavors that are deftly balanced, with a dash of cedary dill-laced oak. This is slow to unfold, but in doing so offers great depth, concentration and complexity. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. (10/31/10)"

94 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Deep, bright ruby. Very ripe but reduced nose shows a chocolatey ripeness to the primary flavors of cassis, blueberry and licorice. Densely packed and powerful, conveying a tactile texture to the sweet flavors of black fruits, tobacco and spicecake. Firm acidity gives clarity and definition to the middle palate of this very concentrated wine. Finishes savory, deeply spicy and firmly tannic, with terrific length and grip. Drink: 2021-2033. (May 2017)"

94 points William Kelley (Decanter): "The 2007 Spottswoode soars from the glass with aromas of creamy blueberry, blackberry and plum that are still pretty primary. 2007 was a very ripe vintage in Napa Valley, but this wine has lost none of its customary elegance in this warm year, retaining a lovely core of fresh acidity and pure fruit. Drinking Window: 2020-2040. (Nov 2015)"
