98 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The base wine on this beauty is the superb 2002 vintage, and the wine is absolutely brilliant. It was disgorged sometime in 2008. The deep, pure and utterly classic nose soars from the glass in a smoky blaze of white peach, gentle tangerine, warm biscuits, chalky minerality, discreet white flowers and the aforementioned smokiness in abundance. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and still strikingly young, with a great core, elegant mousse, and outstanding cut and grip on the very, very long, mineral bath of a finish. There is a vibrancy to the expression of terroir here that is otherworldly! This wine is certainly approachable today (I sincerely doubt I spit it on this morning), but it is still relatively primary in profile and five or six more years in the cellar are really going to work their magic on this utterly profound young wine. 2020-2060. (Jul/Aug 2019)"

96 points James Suckling: "A Blanc de Noirs from an east-facing site in the heart of Aÿ, this has depth, richness and a deeper savory edge to the nose. Aromas of dark tobacco, plenty of dry roasted spices, nut biscuits, musk and dried red fruits. The palate is full of compressed power, where the Mesnil lieu-dit has a verticality which pushes on a horizontal plane with boldness, density and real substance. Flavors run through striking blueberry and red apples, heading to salted caramel and praline on the finish. Commanding Champagne. Drink now. (7/10/15)"

95-96 points Richard Juhlin: (100% Pinot Noir; 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007; Apr 2015)

95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Offering up aromas of mint, apricot, smoked peach, white flowers and honeycomb, the NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Sous le Mont, based on the 2016 vintage, is one of the most exotic wines in the range. Full-bodied, fleshy and ample, it's charming and gourmand, with a generous core of fruit and a long, saline finish. Drink: 2023-2035. (12/14/23)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The NV (2016) Extra-Brut Mareuil-sur-Aÿ Sous Le Mont is intensely aromatic, delicate and quite understated, with tons of finesse and impeccable balance. It is another of the decidedly airy wines in this year's collection of lieux-dits. Soft-spoken and impeccable in its balance, the Sous Le Mont is sublime. Dosage is 0.5 grams per liter. Drink: 2024-2039. (Nov 2023)"

94 points Decanter: "This boasts a rosy salmon-copper colour--not quite rosé--which Selosse refers to as a 'vin tâché'. It's a full-bodied style, from 100% Pinot Noir grown on the east-facing side of the hill, with pomegranate, hibiscus flower, blood orange, kirsch and strawberries, and a mineral note of white ashes. Briny character with a savoury note of nonpareil capers carries through to the finish. Very unusual and thought-provoking. 2,600 bottles produced. Disgorged February 2016. Drink: 2017-2032. Alcohol 12.5%. (Jul 2017)"
