Underneath, however, there is a concentration that seems like a salty, unforgiving, uncompromising rock. Tim Fröhlich has 8.5ha across three terraces and says: "This is why we have great potential here." It is a liquid that seems like lemon-scented air. The wine is superbly focused and taut on the palate, The energy is huge and the freshness is superb. The finish is racy and still marked by lime, yuzu, smoke, and greengage, so that it feels hugely racy. This dry Riesling needs a couple of years to mellow away its racy side and fully shine.
