91-94 points Fine Wine Review: "Here we have red fruits and spice with more energy than in the village wines. Good minerality, too. (3/18/19)"
91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with red cherries, strawberry, orange blossom and hints of chai tea that develop with aeration. There is fine cohesion and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry, lightly spiced and quite peppery for a Lavaux Saint-Jacques, building gradually in the mouth with quite a vibrant spicy, even a touch of curry leaf on the aftertaste. Drink: 2020-2036. (Jan 2019)"
91-93 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Bright rich purple, the nose is quite closed, there is a driven dark raspberry linear energy on the palate, a few firm tannins, quite tight, this needs a little more time in barrel before it really starts to express itself. Tasted: November 2018. (Nov 2018)"
92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2017 Lavaux St. Jacques from the Rousseau family is beautifully sappy and pure in this vintage and truly a lovely bottle in the making. The nose wafts from the glass in a perfumed mélange of red plums, red and black cherries, woodsmoke, raw cocoa, gamebird, a hint of mustard seed, lovely soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very elegant in profile, with a lovely core of pure fruit, excellent soil signature, fine-grained tannins and a long, focused and vibrant finish. Really refined juice. 2026-2065. (Nov/Dec 2018)"
