93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Solid deep rich red purple. This has an impressive weight to it and a juiciness, with noble fruit which suggests more than a hint of the adjacent grand cru, Charmes-Chambertin. Svelte yet with the latent power that typifies Domaine Joseph Roty. (Dec 2021)"

92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Soaring from the glass with aromas of cherries, licorice, wild berries and sweet soil tones, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys Vieilles Vignes is medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with an especially seamless, integrated profile. Framed by powdery tannins and mouthwatering acids, it's a real success. Drink: 2025-2050. (Jan 2022)"

92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2019 Champs Chenys is also outstanding in this vintage. In fact, as Pierre-Jean and I were enjoying our conversation so thoroughly while tasting, that he inadvertently served this after the Fontenys premier cru, and it had no trouble holding its own! The bouquet is deep, precise and flat out superb, delivering scents of plums, black cherries, cassis, coffee bean, a beautiful base of soil tones, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off excellent mid-palate depth, with fine focus and balance, suave, buried tannins and a long, complex and very, very refined finish. 2028-2075. (Jan/Feb 2022)"

92 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from vines planted in 1934 that directly abut Charmes-Chambertin). Equally ripe and attractively layered aromas include those of black fruit confit, spice and a similar note of warm earth are also trimmed in enough wood to remark upon. The finer if less powerful medium-bodied flavors are supported by relatively fine-grained tannins and bright acidity on the youthfully austere and balanced finale that exhibits focused power. This too is unusually good and another villages that is absolutely worth checking out. In a word, terrific. Drink: 2029+. (Jan 2022)"

90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys offers mostly red berry fruit on the nose, which is maybe just a little smudged compared to Roty’s other Village Crus at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh entry and a fine bead of acidity. The precise, chalky-textured finish compensates for the aromatics. I am sure the nose will gain more clarity during the remainder of élevage. Drink: 2023-2039. (Dec 2020)"
