96 points James Suckling: "A red showing wild dark fruits with an exotic undertone. Rose petals and sweet tobacco, too. Very perfumed. Full-bodied, yet refined and tied together. Tight and focused. A lovely finish. Gorgeous wine. So long lived. Drink now or hold. (8/2/18)"

94 points Wine & Spirits: "The impact of this wine makes it feel larger than life, the most powerful of the 2001s in our tasting. Closed and unyielding at first, it opens to a vast expanse of flavor, from dates to figs and walnut skin. Scents of smoke and jasmine seem to rise out of the earthiness of the tannin, a robust structure that isn't weighed down by the wine's extract. Instead, the structure and extract act as a wellspring, the source of a continual flow of complex flavors. A long-term wine, this needs another eight to ten years to begin to show its best. (Dec 2009)"

94 points Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine: "(100% tempranillo). Intense cherry with an orangey edge. Fine, toasty aroma with hints of underbrush, cocoa and vanilla, with great expression. Powerful, flavourful palate with polished tannins and fine toasty notes in the retronasal passage, ripe, fresh and flavourful tannins, a certain complexity. (2006)"
