95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "More iodized, Montmains is scintillating in its finely detailed flavors, generous and expressive. (2023)"

94 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Tangy and aromatic, this vinous and smooth Montmains smells of green apples, anise and rising bread dough. The 40-year-old vines deliver robust concentration accompanied by a lightly lingering finish. Still pretty wound up, I would give it a few years in bottle to come around. 2024-30. (2022)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru has a complex, beautifully defined bouquet of crushed rock, pressed white flowers and a touch of sea spray that seems to gain intensity with aeration. The palate is very well balanced with slithers of white peach and orange zest, segueing into slightly more exotic passion fruit and fresh pineapple notes toward the finish. The mineralité is never very far away. Superb. Drink: 2023-2044. (Oct 2021)"

91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "The age of vines, 35 years, is similar to neighbouring Forêt, but here they are at the top of the slope. A little more yellow in the colour and a little more power to the nose. Some bacon fat, not too much reduction but a fine stony tension. Excellent grip and persistence. (Jun 2021)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Montmains from Domaine Raveneau is again, a bit tightly-knit out of the blocks and shares more structural similarities today with the Forêt, rather than the Vaillons. Though the nose is still quite primary, it is already showing shadings of the candied lemon tones that are the calling card of so many botltings of Raveneau Chablis with bottle age, as it wafts from the glass in a mix of green apple, lemon, paraffin, chalky minerality, straw and a topnote of orange peel. On the palate the wine is bright, deep, full-bodied and fairly closed today, with a lovely core, a fine girdle of acidity, lovely focus and grip and a long, complex and soil-driven finish. All this needs is bottle age. 2027-2060. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "A touch richer and more muscular than the Vaillons, the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains delivers aromas of green apple, lemon oil, white flowers and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, taut and racy, with a textural attack and a saline finish, it's a lovely young wine. Drink: 2025-2050. (7/21/22)"
