Importer notes: Even more rare and exclusive than the standard Valpolicella is the single vineyard Ca' del Merlo ('House of the Blackbird'). This is a single-site selection of 55% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, Croatina, and Sangiovese. It is made in the Ripasso style and aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for seven years before release. It speaks of the place from which it was born. At 8 years of age, it's just now hitting its stride.
