94 points Ned Goodwin MW (JamesSuckling.com): "The first single-vineyard created here, in the late 18th century. More black soil than in the Soave Classico. This is very good, meshing the inherent ripeness of the vintage with a mineral-infused pungency. Green apples, quince and stone fruit. Yet the feel is linear, cool and taut, with a growing trajectory of fruit sweetness across the long, energetic finish. A pithy exclamation to close. Drink or hold. (May 2024)"
93 points Falstaff Guide: "Intense straw yellow with golden nuances. Pronounced and fruity on the nose with juicy apricots, ripe pineapple and passion fruit, followed by floral and mineral notes. Creamy texture on the palate, pleasantly fruity through to the very juicy, persistent finish. (Oct 2024)"
Producer notes: The Calvarino vineyard is located in the heart of the Soave Classico area and represents the old family estate, purchased in 1901. The name Calvarino comes from ‘little calvary’, because of the difficulty of working the basalt soil and because of the tortuous path to reach the bottom. Calvarino, an iconic wine since 1971, the first single vineyard from white grapes in Italy, represents the most long-lived and authentic expression of Soave wine.
