Piantagrossa is a small winery in the village of Donnas in the lower Valle d'Aosta, and is owned by Luciano Zoppo Ronzero. The esate covers three hectares, which are planted 92% to Picotendro, the local clone of Nebbiolo. As the name suggests, this cuvée is produced from grapes coming from the upper parts of the vineyards. Aged in mostly Austrian oak tonneaux. Sour, red, black and wild cherries on the nose. A sunny, exuberant wine that fills the mouth; good structure, perfect acidity, long persistence.
