99 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "In spite of the concentrated exotic fruit character, this Auslese masterpiece does not impress through weight or density, rather through extreme finesse. No less importantly, all this ripeness is married to staggeringly refreshing acidity and an intense, herbal freshness that leaves you breathless with wonder. Drink or hold. (8/13/20)"
98+ points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 08 20. The 2019er Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese proves hay-colored and offers a still rather backward but hugely impressive nose made of pear puree, grapefruit, elderflower, subtle honeyed elements, date, and almond cream. The wine is stunningly subtle and alluring, as a focused sense of almond cream is beautifully mingling with some ripe acidity and delicately exotic flavors. The wine retains nevertheless a huge sense of freshness and elegance right into the silky yet racy, and, above all, incredibly classy finish. While already hugely impressive as it stands, we would not be surprised if it eventually will flirt with perfection, especially as it develops its aromatic presence. Whoever is partial to finesse and precision will fall madly in love with this gorgeous beauty. 2034-2059. (Jun 2020)"
