95 points (17.5/20)/'Le Coup de Coeur,' La Revue du Vin de France: "Aromatic, crushed strawberry and admirable substance. Its deep, invigorating, shimmering fleshiness will leave no one unmoved. Richness, density, everything is in place for the future. (2019)"

94 points Fine Wine Review: "The red Nuits-Clos de la Maréchale is very dense and concentrated with a smooth texture and pure blueberry fruit. But there are tannins here beneath the great depth of this wine. I’d plan on a minimum of 15 years of cellaring. (3/2/19)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The yield for Clos de la Maréchale from Domaine Mugnier was down by about fifty percent due to the frosts of 2016, but the wine has turned out beautifully and is very suave structurally. The bouquet is pure and very classy, offering up scents of black cherries, plums, gamebird, a touch of nutskin, raw cocoa, vanillin oak and a complex base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, fine soil signature, ripe tannins and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish. 2026-2055. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of cassis, dark plums, baking chocolate and rosehip introduce the 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, a full-bodied, rich and layered wine with a broad-shouldered chassis of fine, stony tannins that are entirely enveloped in fleshy, gourmand fruit. This vintage is atypically rich and concentrated, so it's hard to predict if and when it will shut down. Drink: 2026-2055. (1/4/19)"

93 points Tim Atkin, MW (2018).

92 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "This is appealingly super-fresh with its cool array of red currant, plum, earth and soft wisps of violet and lavender. The supple, round and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors possess a really lovely mouthfeel thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins that also shape the punchy, dusty and serious finale. I like the sense of harmony and this notably complex effort should be easily capable of rewarding 10 to 12 years of cellaring and holding for much longer. Drink: 2026+./ (Jan 2019)"

91 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru offers a pure, quite precise bouquet with blackberry, briary, crushed stone and iris aromas that gently unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit on the entry, crisp acidity, lightly spiced with hints of curry leaf and white pepper furnishing the persistent finish. This is very classy, though maybe not quite as long-term as I estimated out of barrel. Tasted at the Domaine. Drink: 2020-2033. (Oct 2019)"
