96-98 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, dark berry fruit, licorice, incense, exotic spices and loamy soil, the 2020 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a concentrated core of fruit that's framed by a muscular chassis of rich, powdery tannins. This is potentially the domaine's most profound wine this year, as is often the case, but it will also require the most patience. (Jan 2022)"

97 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Made from fruit which is wholly destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in cask (70% new). Despite the élevage, the silky dark fruit decorated with aromas of spice and flowers comes through quite clearly, and there is nothing astringent about this marvellous wine. The Mugneret-Gibourg parcel in the Clos de Vougeot yields one of the best wines in the Clos. It was purchased by Dr. Georges Mugneret in 1953 and replanted the following year. It begins at the road leading to the château and descends the slope about halfway, ending before the deep soils at the bottom. Drinking Window: 2025-2060. (Oct 2021)"

97 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Great aromatic complexity, violet, aniseed touch in the Clos de Vougeot, with a velvety and deep profile: a minty, voluptuous, smooth and fresh wine, with chiseled tannins and a dizzying depth. In our opinion one of the most beautiful expressions of the vintage. (2023)"

96+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Clos Vougeot from Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg is another beautiful wine in the making. This comes in at 13.9 percent this year and was cropped at thirty-seven hectoliters per hectare, which is not too bad in the context of the short crop of 2020. The wine is stunning on the nose, soaring from the glass in a deep and precise blend of black cherries, black plums, venison, bitter chocolate, a beautiful base of soil tones, plenty of upper register spices, woodsmoke and cedary new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and sappy at the core, with fine soil inflection, tangy acids, fine-grained tannins and a very, very long, very elegant finish. Gorgeous juice. 2035-2100. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

96 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "The 75% new oak is showy on the nose with cinnamon toast, spice and vanilla bean. The palate delivers black fruits as well as a note of characteristic Clos de Vougeot rusticity with some turned earth and damp bark. These old vines planted in 1955 still yield nicely (35 hl/ha here) and are located near the famous château. 2025-42. (2022)"

94-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Rich dark crimson purple in colour. The nose is ripe and sunny but with a fruit profile which stays fresh. Sumptuous dark hearted fruit, with weight and charm. Generous, in balance but the fruit is pretty ripe, deep red cherries. An all-singing sunshine Clos Vougeot which will give a lot of pleasure. (Nov 2021)"

94-96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes from their 0.30-hectare parcel close to the château. Matured in around 70% new oak, this offer vivacious red fruit mixed with loam/undergrowth, crushed stone and just a touch of pencil lead. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and fresh with a bitter edge on the finish (you might think there was a bit of whole bunch here, but there is none). Very long, this might be my pick from Mugneret this year. Drink: 2026-2055. (Dec 2021)"
