100 points Peter Moser (Falstaff): "Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on rim. Fine dark berry fruit, a hint of cassis and liquorice, fresh tangerine zest, nuances of cedar, the bouquet exercises noble restraint. Complex, full-bodied, super elegant texture, fine expression, ripe, long, silky tannins, great density, ripe cherries, mineral, fine spice, convincing length, certain ageing potential, will enter maturity early, so make sure to stock up. 2028 - 2065. (2/23/22)"
100 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Mouton Rothschild hasn't skipped a beat since the sublime 2009 vintage! 2019 continues their winning streak with one of the wines of the vintage. Almost opaque in color, the nose resonates with its showy display of Asian spices, cigar wrapper, fresh herbs, cigar box, blackberries, crushed stone and cassis. Full-bodied, richly concentrated, opulent, and equally refined, the multi-layered display of flawlessly ripe berries, elegant textures, balance, freshness and flamboyance is what the great vintages of Mouton are all about. The finish crosses the 60 second mark with ease. Drink from 2035-2070. (Mar 2022)"
100 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide: "Absolute dazzling, formal perfection, unequaled in intensity and promise in the vintage. (2023)"
99 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "...Today, it is unquestionably one of the wines of the vintage. Powerful and statuesque in its beauty, Mouton is remarkable in every way. Layers of dark-toned fruit confer seriousness and intensity that builds with time. All of the finesse I saw in barrel is still present. Since then, the 2019 has gained flesh and vibrancy. Magnificent! Drink: 2034-2069. (Jan 2022)"
99 points James Suckling: "This is incredibly complex, with all the cabernet descriptors, from mint and lead pencil to blackberry, blackcurrant and menthol. It changes all the time in the glass, just as in the nose. Yet, it remains cool and classy. Full-bodied with very fine, tight tannins that run the length of the wine, carrying on and on and on. Well-framed and compact wine. Never-ending procession of currant, berry and black cherry fruit, together with licorice, earth and just a hint of black truffle. 90% cabernet sauvignon, 9% merlot and 1% petit verdot... (2/20/22)"
99 points Rod Smith, MW (TimAtkin.com): "(90 CS 9 M 1 PV). Just as with its sibling, the Petit Mouton, this bursts from the glass with a fresh violet chalkiness, but is more tightly wound around by an envelope of spicy cedary oak. There's coffee and savoury scorched earth too, but the core is of pungent sweet black fruits, and with an almost floral perfume note. Beguiling and super-promising. The aroma continues to evolve in the glass for several minutes, and it's the kind of wine you want to smell multiple times before tasting as every time it reveals more, and deeper, complexity on the nose. In the mouth, the level of extract is apparent in wave upon wave of exuberant black fruits which completely escape their jacket of spicy new oak, which is well judged but playing a supporting role (as it should). The tannins are deep and mouth coating, but smooth and there is already a creaminess of texture which is a rare thing in a Pauillac of this youth and level of new oak (100%, although you would not know from the palate). Super concentrated and powerful, and yet managing elegance, freshness and refinement. This is essence of Cabernet Sauvignon and of Mouton. It is magnificent. Will provide wonderful drinking from ten year’s time, and for decades subsequently. (2022)"
99 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Mouton 2019 confirms its legendary status as a wine of exceptional refinement. On the nose, it imposes its great class and depth; the palate is immense, broad, with fat, but above all with energetic fruit that explodes on the palate. (2023)"
98+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "...the most dramatic of the Médoc first growths, soaring from the glass with aromas of cassis, blackberries and violets mingled with rich aromas of cedar, cigar wrapper, licorice, loamy soil and spices. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's deep and powerful, with huge levels of concentration and an ineffably complete, seamless profile, concluding with a long, resonant finish... 2035-2065. (Apr 2022)"
98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "...shows the new, modern style of Bordeaux in its purity, elegance, and finesse while still being an incredibly concentrated Pauillac... this is a more seamless, streamlined, elegant beauty that builds with time in the glass and is just about impossible to fault. Gorgeous crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, forest floor, licorice, damp earth, and graphite, as well as some espresso nuances, emerge on the nose, and it's rich, medium to full-bodied, has ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish... 2032-2062. (4/11/22)"
98 points Georgina Hindle (Decanter): "Gorgeous nose with a soft sweetness to the fruit aromas - a quality of the cooler year with freshness and vibrancy to the fruit profile. A great core of black fruits - blackcurrant, plums and cherries, balancing power but also succulence in the best way. Muscular but refined and finessed, feels so well constructed with harmonious tannins. The texture is smooth, deep and coursing but with such elegance to the overall frame... I love it... 2028-2050. (Jan 2022)"
98 points Jane Anson: "...Has layers of black cherries dipped in bitter chocolate and coffee with turbo powered tannins and lift. Freshly crushed mint leaf on the finish. A ton of depth... this is more espresso than cappuccino, with layers of vertical tannins that are generous but in control... A great Mouton, pure, precise, linear, tight and vertical... 2028-2050. (10/26/21)"
98 points Wine Spectator: "...pure, defined and deftly supported by a seamlessly embedded iron spine. Features light savory, floral and red tea notes that flash in the background, while the fruit glistens through the extremely lengthy finish... 2025-2045. (3/31/22)"
98 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "...a brilliant Mouton-Rothschild... 2029-2065. (Feb 2022)"
98 points Chris Kissack (Winedoctor): "This is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. It opens with an intensely dark, fresh and vibrant nose, with blackcurrant, black cherry and damson, perfumed with violets and dark chocolate. As it opens up I see more floral notes, reminiscent of white freesia, as well as a little menthol freshness around the edges. The palate is so understated, with a very focused texture, finely delineated, with a fresh and complex array of dark fruits, black olive, liquorice, dried black cherry, currant, slate, sage and graphite, all underpinned by a deeply buried seam of tannins, so elegant and ripely formed. So polished and tightly knit are these tannins that on the first taste they remain hidden throughout, only appearing at the very end of the palate. A very silky and sweet suggestion, with lingering blackcurrant purity at the end, this feels so harmonious and correct, with perfect integration of all elements. Simply divine, and continuing a run of great vintages for Mouton-Rothschild. The alcohol is 13.2%, with 13.5% on the label. (Dec 2021)"
98 points Wine Enthusiast: "[$906 list] The wine is dense, concentrated, massive. It has a perfect combination of spice, dark fruits and tannins giving impressive potential. The wine is likely to take many years. Drink from 2027. Alcohol 14.5%. (Oct 2022)"
