98 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(the original disgorgement of late 2010). 2002 represents a particularly ripe vintage for Dom Pérignon, yet recent performances have demonstrated its remarkably slow evolution. A lightning bolt of acidity strikes a dynamic core of fine, frothing chalk mineral structure, bursting with lemon sherbet freshness. Signature struck-flint reduction is subtle, and the gentle warmth of maturity is beginning to glow in notes of ginger, brioche, toast and butterscotch, with building intensity and creaminess. A benchmark Dom, magnificent now, with decades stretching marvellously before it. (2016-2017)"

98 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Honey, almonds, butter, tropical fruit and brioche are some of the notes that emerge in the 2002 Dom Pérignon. Here the flavors are bold, rich and exotic, as they have always been, while the textural feel is one of pure exuberance. The 2002 remains dense, honeyed and totally voluptuous on the palate, with more than enough density to drink well for decades The style will always remain opulent to the core. Drink: 2015-2037. (Jul 2015)"

95-98 points Essi Avellan, MW: "Beautifully toasty and creamy nose with charming sweet fragrant fruit and sensuous white flower character. Delicate yet intensive. Opulent coffee bean, straw, peach, caramel, vanilla and gunpowder notes. Pure, bright fruit, coolly creamy palate with linear structure and long, salivating lemony length. Fine and tight, focused and finely detailed structure full of energy. Plenty of potential here. It has got it all. (Jun 2017)"

96 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): "The 2002 Dom Perignon is at first intensely floral, with perfumed jasmine that dominates the bouquet. With time in the glass the wine gains richness as the flavors turn decidedly riper and almost tropical. Apricots, passion fruit and peaches emerge from this flashy, opulent Dom Perignon. The wine’s volume makes it approachable today, but readers in search of more complexity will want to cellar this for at least a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to drop off. Geoffroy describes the vintage as very ripe and adds that some of the Chardonnay showed the ill-effects of the hot growing season in the somewhat burned, dehydrated fruit that came in that year. This bottle was disgorged in July, 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2032. (Dec 2010)"

96 points Wine & Spirits: "Think of standing above a well at the edge of an apple orchard, the cool feel of the earth deepening the bosky scent of the ripening fruit. This wine may take you there, then leave you to contemplate its complexity: full-on limestone-derived power, juicy nectarine and apricot scents, candied lemon and lasting spice, all of it rounded into a supple shape and a subtle mist of a finish. A great vintage of DP, this will age with grace. (Dec 2011)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "A rich and smoky Champagne in a graceful package, with a beautiful, fine-grained texture to it and layers of flavor--biscuit, candied lemon peel, coffee liqueur, chamomile, pine, crystallized honey and wood smoke. This is the haute couture of the Champagne world--all about elegance, texture and attention to detail. Drink now through 2027. (12/31/10)"

96 points Falstaff: "Radiant gold yellow, vigorous and persistent bubbles. Fine toasty notes of brioche and hazelnut, fine floral touch pervaded by white peach and orange zest nuances with a hint of vanilla. On the palate full-bodied, elegant, fine and vibrant acidity, racy, fine yellow tropical fruit nuances, complex, mineral finish, almost salty in the aftertaste. Incredibly multifaceted with an animated finish, immense length, expressive aftertaste and fine spicy notes. Will benefit from further bottle ageing. (11/25/11)"

18/20 points The World of Fine Wine: "(disgorged March 2009; dosage about 6g/l). A brilliant, lustrous gold, signaling richness and ripeness. Elegant, streaming small bubbles. Intense aromatics, tropical fruits, even truffles, more expressive than at the July 2010 tasting. Latent richness and exuberance to come on the palate, but this is a 'glass half full,' in the sense that this 2002 needs a lot more time truly to express its full creamy, textural magnificence and vinosity. Keep until 2012-15 to benefit from more post-disgorgement aging. 18 today but should go higher still. Potentially very great. (Issue 30; 2010)"
