93 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "[$80 list] This is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese from 20-year-old vines aged in oak for 18 months. The Michele Satta 2017 Bolgheri Superiore Piastraia offers intensity and bold fruit with plenty of rich blackberry, dried cherry and toasted spice. The is a full and generous wine from a hot vintage that does not hold back in term of fruit density or intensity. It would welcome some pork-filled ravioli. The soft tannins add to the wine's balanced full-bodied approach. Some 35,000 bottles were made. Drink: 2021-2038. (Dec 2020)"
93 points Falstaff: "Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Sangiovese. Rich garnet. Very spicy nose, underlaid with green pepper and light leather, rich cherry fruit, some plum, then again chalky tones and ripe cassis, multi-layered and full. On the palate just as full, although with fine flow, compact, densely woven tannins give grip, still young, very good future. Alcohol 14.5%. (8/27/20)"
92 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "[$80 list] The 2017 Piastraia (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese) is a super-expressive wine in this range that will drink well right out of the gate. Ripe red/purplish fruit, sweet spice and floral notes are all wrapped together in this attractive, mid-weight wine. Time in the glass brings out an attractive, bright upper register, while silky tannins add quite a bit of appeal. Drink: 2020-2029. (Jan 2021)"
92 points Wine Spectator: "Smooth, this evokes black cherry and blackberry flavors gently singed by earth and spice flavors. Light tannins gird the finish, with a bittersweet chocolate feel. Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet and Syrah. Drink now through 2027. 3,000 cases made, 1,250 cases imported. (3/31/21)"
