Producer notes: "Deep ruby red in color, tending to purple. The nose offers fruity, varietal aromas. Excellent body, balance, and Barbera character on the palate. Drink with red and white meats, fresh and mature cheeses, cold cuts, and pasta dishes."
Not yet reviewed; 2019 vintage rated 92 points by Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Giuseppe Mascarello 2019 Barbera d'Alba Scudetto offers a lot of dense richness and firmness that gives it an almost monumental quality. You taste the building blocks, brick by brick. The fruit is tight, even a bit nervous at this young stage, with blackberry, tarry smoke and licorice. Vintner Mauro Mascarello is very happy with 2019. The warm 2021 vintage came a bit early, and 2020 shows leaner structure, he says. Drink: 2023-2030."
