92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from eight plots between 40 and 100 years old and includes 25% whole bunch. That stem addition is seamlessly integrated on the nose and allows the almost boisterous black cherry and raspberry scents to flourish. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, sweet and candied in style but judiciously spiced and very well structured on the long, saline finish. This is a stylish Gevrey-Chambertin. Drink: 2024-2045. (Dec 2020)"

90-92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Fine deep purple, with a significantly plumper nose here. The fruit comes from 8 lieux dits, the vines aged from 40 to 100 years. Sumptuous deep raspberry with some ripe strawberry on top, harmonious rich but graceful too. A lovely expression. Some spicy notes too as Henri Magnien (Charles’ grandfather) liked. (Oct 2020)"

91 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is excellent, delivering notes of orange rind, red berries, peonies, candied peel and plums. Medium to full-bodied, layered and charming, it's supple and perfumed, with a lively, nicely concentrated core of fruit and a seamless, elegant profile. This is one of Magnien's finest communal bottlings to date. Drink: 2022-2042. (Jan 2021)"

90+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Vieilles Vignes bottling from Charles Magnien hails from vines that range from forty years of age to more than one hundred, as the oldest parcel included here was planted in 1915! The 2019 version comes in at a proper 13.5 percent octane and delivers beautifully pure red fruity aromatics of cherries, strawberries, orange zest, a nice touch of grilled meats, a superb base of soil, cedar and a floral topnote redolent of peonies. On the palate the wine is bright, fullbodied and quite elegant for the vintage, with a lovely core, impressive transparency and grip, ripe, firm tannins and good length and grip on the well-balanced finish. This is still fairly chewy and will need some bottle age, but there are good things in store here for those who tuck this away in their cellars for a decade! 2029-2065. (Jan/Feb 2022)"
