93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The old vines in 2020 yielded an inky purple wine, with a ripe (between 13.5–14%) blackberry fruit, extracted very gently with almost no punching down. Despite the concentration, there is lots of finesse here, producing a charming result. Trilogie is consistently among the most impressive village-level wines in Morey. It is produced exclusively from old vines between 50–85 years of age. The majority of it is Chenevery, blended with parcels in Clos Solon and Les Porroux along the premier cru La Bussière. Drinking Window: 2025-2040. (Oct 2021)"

90-92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Offering up aromas of cassis, red berries, warm spices and loamy soil, the 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Trilogie is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a deep and youthfully tightly wound core of fruit that's framed by lively acids and powdery tannins. This is likely to emerge as Lignier's finest communal-level bottling this year, but it will also require the most patience. (1/20/22)"

90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "From three different lieux-dits, the youngest vines planted in the Fifties, the 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis "Trilogie" has a beautifully-defined bouquet with iris flower and touches of peony infusing the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is fine backbone here, quite serious despite its status with a granular finish. Excellent. Drink: 2025-2040. (Dec 2021)"

90-92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Chenevery in the north accounts for 60%, assembled with Clos Solon (centre) and Porroux to the south. 8.5 barrels made from 0.90ha which I calculate as about 22 hl/ha. Rich deep purple, this has energy and power but not too overdone, with some crunch, vibrant red fruits with a little black alongside, good tannins, not too fine but not too firm, and an excellent finish. Gourmandise and precision. I was surprised to hear that this weighs in at 14.85% alcohol, but I still really like the wine. (Nov 2021)"

89-92 points/'Outstanding/Top value,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(60% from the villages portions of Chenevery and Bas de Chenevery together with 15% Clos Solon and 25% Porroux). Pretty and ripe aromas are composed by essence of red currant, cherry, earth and a whiff of herbal tea. There is again good verve to the richer and more concentrated flavors that possess a beguiling texture while exhibiting good power on the ever-so-mildly rustic finale. This is an excellent Morey villages with the aging potential to match. Drink: 2028+. (Jan 2022)"

91 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Nose of blackberries and fruit coulis in the Trilogie morey, fleshy and unctuous on the palate, with great density and depth. (2023)"

90+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Morey St. Denis “Trilogie” from Domaine Lignier is also an excellent village wine in the making, with the bouquet wafting from the glass in a sappy blend of black cherries, black plums, dark chocolate, a lovely base of soil tones, pigeon, coffee bean and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely structured, with plenty of mid-palate sappiness, fine soil inflection and grip, ripe, chewy tannins and a long, complex and very nicely balanced finish. 2030-2065. (Nov/Dec 2021)"
