***(*) John Livingstone-Learmonth (The Cradle of The Rhône): "(Viognier (late 1990s) from 0.3 hectare on sandy granite soils on La Maraze at St Michel-sur-Rhône, a vineyard exchange with Domaine Richard (who received Leyat, some Baleyat Côte-Rôtie), direct whole bunch pressing, steel vat fermented at 12°-13°C, raised 50% steel vat, 50% new 228-litre oak casks, raised 10-12 months, malo 50-100% completed, filtered, first wine 2019, 1,000-1,500 b). (cask, bottling Sept 2022) full yellow colour; has a flan-brioche bread aroma, a ready openness, tropical fruits such as mango with apricot juice on the bouquet. The palate holds enjoyable, well centred gras, is grapey and thorough, the second half well lined, the style coated. It ends clearly enough. It has variety to come, can interest, especially around 2025. “It’s well perfumed,” Agnès Levet. 1,000 b only this year, loss of 30% from frost. It’s also 13° against the 14.5° of 2020. 2028-29 May 2022."
