97 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Reserve and firm, the Grand Cru is a serene, caressing wine that lacks its usual finesse at this stage: a little plush, it will find its feet with age. (2021)"

96.5 points CellarTracker.com community score.

93-95+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The most backward cuvée in the cellar when I visited was the 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, a rich and muscular wine that unwinds to reveal notions of cherries, cassis and berries mingled with nuances of exotic spice and new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, fleshy and structured, with refined but youthfully assertive tannins. A wine of considerable presence, this will need its remaining élevage to round out, but it's very promising. (Jan 2020)"

93-95 points Fine Wine Review: "Spicy red fruits. Medium-weight, smooth, red fruits, some RSV sensuality. No great penetration for the moment. A wine that needs time, but not because of its structure, just needs to settle. (11/17/19)"

94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Bright purple, vigorous, thrilling pure fruit bouquet. No sign of the vintage at first though becomes a little sweatier afterwards. Soft red sun-baked fruit. Firm on the palate, though at least partly through intensity. Finishes very much red rather than black. At one point I found this a fraction undernourished before the wine started to open out and gain more detail. Drink from 2033. (Sep 2022)"

94 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "Dark cherry and berry fruit with plenty of weight and concentration on the palate. Tannins are still quite firm and the acidity is quite forceful. A burlier style of grand cru, I suspect this will be a fantastic example in four to five years. Needs more time but the potential is clearly there. Drinking Window: 2026-2040. (Nov 2021)"

94 points Tim Atkin, MW (2020).

The vineyard of Romanée-Saint-Vivant is wonderfully located, with only a road separating it from Romanée-Conti. It has fabulously generous soils composed of mixture of clay and limestone which results in one of the greatest reds in the world. It was founded in 1098, the abbey of Citeaux has made a lengthy contribution to the extension of vines in Burgundy. The monks of Saint-Vivant de Vergy were very much involved in this, so much so that a vineyard in the Côte de Nuits was named after them. It is always a privilege to taste a Romanée-Saint-Vivant. It is a rare emotion born from being close to a masterpiece of nature and man.
