93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2010 Lafarge Volnay 'Mitans' is another absolutely beautiful, red fruity example of the vintage. The wine offers up a wonderfully complex mélange of strawberries, cherries, quince, vinesmoke, coffee and stony minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave on the attack and reserved on the backend, with a fine core of fruit, outstanding focus and balance, ripe tannins and a very long, tangy and soil-driven finish. Just a classic bottle in the making and the perfect wine to serve someone looking to really understand just what is the “typical” style of Volnay. 2020-2060. (Nov/Dec 2011)"

90-93 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from Mitans proper; not l'Ormeau). A gorgeously perfumed nose of ultra-elegant red pinot fruit that is cool and strikingly pure. There is an almost pungent minerality to the refined flavors that are akin to pure silk in texture, all wrapped in a lacy and lilting finish. Burgundy doesn't come much more refined than this. Drink: 2017+. (Apr 2012)"

90-93 points Fine Wine Review: "The Volnay-Mitans is a little less focused than the Grèves. It has earthy red cherry fruit and is elegant. (Issue #137; 2013)"
