93 points Wine Spectator: "Rustic and edgy, in an alluring style, with a crushed rock minerality to the vivid dark berry, raspberry and subtle earth and herb touches. The finish gains momentum and carries the flavors a long way. (5/27/15)"

93 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): "Harvest between September 6th and October 2nd, the 2013 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands is a flat out gorgeous Pinot Noir that offers tons of black raspberries, crushed flowers and spice-like characteristics on the nose. Seeing 16 months in 40% new French oak, it has a polished, creamy, sexy texture, yet backs it up with terrific mid-palate depth and a great finish. It should be at its best in another year or so and have a decade or more of longevity. It's just as good as a number of the more expensive single vineyards releases. (Oct 2015)"

92 points and 'Very highly recommended,' California Grapevine: "Medium-light to medium ruby color; attractive, deep, toasty, cherry and raspberry fruit aroma with spicy notes and hints of forest floor, mocha, and rhubarb; medium-full body; forward, rich, deep, red and black fruit flavors with well integrated oak and some plushness in the velvety mouthfeel; medium tannin; lingering aftertaste. Nicely balanced and appealing to taste now, though should reward a few more years of bottle aging. 14.2% alcohol; released March 2015. (May 2015)"

92 points PinotReport: "Medium ruby color; expansive spiced cherry and plum aromas with raspberry and cranberry overtones; big, bright raspberry and cranberry flavors with spicy, warm oak notes; good structure and balance; long finish. Big, bright Pinot with full, expansive flavors. Great for anything off the grill. (9/15/15)"

Producer notes: "The 2013 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a blend of five vineyards; Garys’, Pisoni, Rosella’s, Sierra Mar and Soberanes. Aromatics: This wine displays deep notes of orange peel, cherries, allspice, nutmeg and five-spice with a hint of rhubarb and strawberry compote. On the palate: Our Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a deeply structured wine. The supple soft tannins give a full mouthfeel with cinnamon and five spice centered in the mid-palate. A mix of dark fruits, such as cranberry and blackberry dominate, ending in a resounding strawberry and dark cherry finish."
