96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "As I noted last year, there is a little bit more Morstein in the Keller cellars these days, as Klaus-Peter purchased an additional parcel of Morstein planted with sixty year-old vines to augment his previous holdings, as well as the section that was budded over to Pinot Noir. The 2012 Morstein is destined to go down as one of the greatest wines yet produced from this great vineyard by Klaus-Peter Keller (and keep in mind that the first several vintages of G-Max hailed from the estate’s Morstein parcel), as the wine is brilliant on both the nose and the palate. The stunning bouquet is a blend of sweet grapefruit, tart orange, wild yeasts, orange zest, gentle notes of petrol, floral tones and a beautiful synthesis of citrus zest and limestone minerality serving to really ratchet up the precision of the aromatics. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and displays superb mid-palate depth, with perfectly ripe acidity, laser-like focus, flawless balance and a very, very long and primary finish. This is a monumental vintage for the Keller Morstein GG, and yet, it is not even the greatest wine from this vineyard in 2012! 2022-2065.(Mar/Apr 2013)"

95 points Joel B. Payne (Vinous): "Stately aromas of ripe apricot, dried almond, candied lime and woodsmoke. The opulent texture and unctuously ripe peach flavor are balanced by a subtle acid structure that will allow the wine to evolve gracefully. A persistent ginger spiciness lingers on the finish. Already a great dry riesling, but give it another five years. (Jan 2014)"

19/20 points Michael Schmidt (JancisRobinson.com): "Klaus Peter Keller is a very diplomatic man, and far from criticising his contemporary colleagues he explains the noticeable downturn of spontaneous fermentation aromas in the Morstein and his other Grosse Gewächse with the individual vintage conditions. I’m all for it, as it enables me to do more justice to the differences in terroir. In the case of the Morstein this is reflected in a harmonious partnership of minerality and spices, backed by a superb freshness of green and yellow fruit. If anything at all, the Morstein of 2012 has become even more elegant than its predecessors, with the merest hint of mint and nettles giving it an aromatic dimension. Despite its great concentration this is not about power, but precision. Chill to perfection in a cool mountain stream! Drinking Window: 2014-2024. (8/30/13)"
