97 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "As is the case with the 2015 Pettenthal bottling, Klaus-Peter felt the balance for the Hipping was best with a bit more residual sugar to balance the acidity than what would fall under the Trocken banner, so the wine will be bottled as Grosse Lage this year. This is more reserved aromatically than the Pettenthal and perhaps will be even a shade finer in the fullness of time. The bouquet is pure and very complex out of the blocks, delivering a blend of tangerine, pink grapefruit, petrol, wild yeasts, orange peel, red slate, white flowers, lemongrass and a lovely, zesty topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and again, absolutely laser-like in its precision, with great depth at the core, just a whisper of balancing sweetness on the backend and a very, very long, dancing and utterly seamless finish. Another absolutely brilliant wine. 2020-2060. (Mar/Apr 2016)"
